The Israeli outposts' phenomena started back in the year 1996 by Israeli settlers who contrive to take control of hilltops in the OPT. The outposts are located mostly within 1-4 miles distant from an existing settlement (Mother Settlement).

The Israeli government did not provide those settlers with direct financial support, rendering them to be illegal and unauthorized. However, it provided them with infrastructural support through the Israeli army, which provides a security cover for the attacks of the settlers that are carry out against the Palestinian people and the Palestinian lands.
The aim of the outpost was best described in 1998 by the Israeli Agriculture Minister at that time and former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. He stated that the aim of outposts is to take as much Palestinian land as possible before losing them to Palestinians in negotiations.

4

The term 'Bypass Roads' did not come into use until the signing of the Oslo Agreement between the Israelis and Palestinians in 1993 to indicate designated roads for the Israeli army and settlers' use. It means 'to bypass Palestinian towns and communities in the context of the Israeli army redeployment'.
From that point on, Israel intensified its efforts to increase the magnitude of the bypass roads in the OPT, as a part of its policy to coerce facts on the ground; ultimately affecting the outcome of negotiations with the Palestinians; including the establishment of a viable contiguous Palestinian State.

5

The Israeli corridors break up the area 'in between' the 10% (555 km²) western segregation zone and the 29% (1664 km²) eastern segregation zone.
The corridors are designed to link the 103 Israeli settlements situated inside
the western segregation zone, accommodating 408,000 Israeli settlers, with those 42
settlements situated in the eastern segregation zone, accommodating 12,000 Israeli
settlers.
