| Understanding the Market for Agro-Commodities in the West Bank |

Contracting party: International Development Research Center (IDRC) Starting Date: April 2013 Ending Date: March 2015 The overall objective of the project is to conduct a baseline assessment of the food consumption-production process from farm to fork, encompassing food production, food availability and food marketing. The specific objectives of this project are: To develop a network of stakeholders involved in food policy in the West Bank; to analyze the major crops and agro-commodities produced and consumed in the West Bank in order to identify opportunities for chains; to analyze the role of various agro-food production-marketing stakeholders for value chains for specific agro-commodities; to analyze locally produced agro-commodities and marketing channels for internal and external markets; and to share and disseminate the results with key decision-makers and other related stakeholders, in order to enhance awareness and cooperation to improve local farm production, food trading market, and access to agro-food markets for producers and consumers. The project objectives will be achieved through conducting a set of activities that will result in building stakeholders awareness and partnerships at the decision-making level as well as civil society; assessing food production-consumption-marketing balance; and enhancing stakeholders partnerships, coordination, and building their capacities and know-how through disseminating the generated information at all levels of stakeholders.
