This Profile provides a narrative, statistical and cartographic description of the current environmental status in the OPT and shows the trends of the major environmental indicators over the period from 1997 till 2007. It also includes a list of recommendations to monitor and control further environmental degradation, and to carry out restoration actions in environmental hot spots. The Profile is divided into three main parts: Part One “Land, Demography and Economic Sectors”; Part Two “Environmental Challenges”; and Part Three “National and International Aspects”. The Profile, as well as the updated EIS, will be posted on ARIJ Website, in order to make them accessible to decision makers, the public and all who can benefit from them. It is worth mentioning that a workshop targeting all the Palestinian stakeholders was organized on May 09, 2007 to present and discuss the first draft of the Profile. The workshop was fruitful and revealed the comments and remarks of the participants, which have been taken into consideration in the final Profile.
