The paper describes how development in the last 100 years has not followed an environmentally sustainable path, in large part because of political constraints. This is followed by an outline for a plan for "sustainable development" in the Palestinian context. The paper also discusses the history of environmental degradation, land, water, air, agriculture, mineral resources, waste management, tourism, and population growth.
