ARIJ concludes second visit to Al Badhan valley of Nablus

Bethlehem 4, April 2013: Within the activities of promoting socio-economic sustainable development through innovative technological actions for Mediterranean tourism heritage and landscapes protection clusters (HELAND), the Applied Research Institute- Jerusalem (ARIJ) conducted a field visit to Al Badhan village in Nablus, on the 4th of July, 2013, to visit and study the landscape in the Hiking trail in the village. Also, the team identified the trail using the Global Positioning System (GPS). The field visit was carried out by ARIJ in accompanying of the AL Badhan village council.
HELAND is a research project funded by the Cross-Border Cooperation within the European Neighborhood and Partnership Instrument (ENPI), Mediterranean Sea Basin Joint Operational Programme. It is a joint project between ten organizations and research centers from six countries: Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan, Spain, Cyprus and Malta. The Applied Research Institute Jerusalem (ARIJ) is the Palestinian partner of the project.
Al Badhan was chosen for this project because its topography varies between mountains, plains and valleys. The area is known for an abundance of water springs and high biodiversity, and is considered one of the most beautiful natural landscapes in Palestine.
The project aims to promote the socio-economic and enhancement of Al Badhan village through sustainable tourism and landscape protection.
ضمن نشاطات مشروع تعزيز التنمية الاجتماعية والاقتصادية المستدامة من خلال الوسائل التكنولوجية المبتكرة في مجال حفظ التراث الثقافي وحماية المناطق الطبيعية لدول حوض البحر الابيض المتوسط (HELAND)، قام معهد الابحاث التطبيقية القدس (أريج)، بتنفيذ زيارة ميدانية في 7 تموز 2013، بهدف دراسة المشهد الطبيعية وطبوغرافية المنطقة المعدة للمسير والموجودة ضمن حدود قرية وادي الباذان، حيث قام فريق العمل بدراسة المسار وتحديده بوساطة جهاز تحديد المواقع (GPS). وشارك في الزيارة باحثين من المعهد بالاضافة الى مجلس قروي وادي الباذان.
مشروع HELAND هو مشروع بحثي ممول من برنامج التعاون المشترك عبر الحدود لحوض البحر الابيض المتوسط في الاتحاد الاوروبي، وهو مشروع مشترك بين عشرة مؤسسات ومراكز ابحاث تابعة لستة دول هي: فلسطين، لبنان، الاردن، مالطا، اسبانيا، قبرص، علما بان معهد الابحاث التطبيقية- القدس (أريج) هو الشريط الفلسطيني في هذا المشروع.
يأتي اختيار منطقة وادي الباذان لاعتبارها منطقة ذات مشهد طبيعي خلاب ومتميز، متنوعة التضاريس، حيث تجمع بين السهول والجبال والوديان، اضافة الى انتشار الغابات الحرجية والازهار البرية، كذلك يوجد في المنطقة العديد من الينابيع. كما وتعتبر منطقة وادي الباذان منطقة غنية بالتنوع الحيوي.
يهدف المشروع الى تعزيز التنمية الاجتماعية والاقتصادية لمنطقة وادي الباذن من خلال استدامة النشاطات السياحية والخدمات المتوفرة ومن خلال حماية المشهد الطبيعي في المنطقة، حيث سيتم عمل دراسة بحثية كاملة للواقع السياحي لمرتبط بالمناطق الطبيعية في المنطقة، ووضع خطط لتنشيط السياحة الداخلية والخارجية لهذا الموقع للوصول الى السياحة المستدامة.
