The overall objective of SOER is to provide an update and comprehensive description and assessment of the state of the environment in the West Bank and Gaza strip as well as to show the trends of the major environmental indicators over the period from 1997 until 2007. Thus, the report shall provide socially acceptable and economically feasible strategic recommendations that are urgently needed to check further environmental deterioration. The project plan is also to distribute the results in a digital format to the stakeholders including governmental and non-governmental organization who are active in the field of environment. The activities of the project include the collecting and acquiring data on land, water, environment, settlement, socioeconomic conditions and infrastructure for the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Eventually, the Status of Environment Report (SOER) is to be prepared and published in the form of soft cover book.
