This collaboration between UPA and the Applied Research Institute – Jerusalem (ARIJ) aims to improve food security and economic resilience for 43 vulnerable families in the marginalized areas of Bethlehem and Hebron. UPA funds ARIJ’s activities, which includes setting up 27 home gardens and 16 wicking bed systems to enable these households to grow vegetables year-round, reducing their reliance on external food sources.

The project’s goal is to enhance the socioeconomic status of these families by boosting sustainable, self-managed agricultural productivity. Key objectives include increasing local food production and equipping beneficiaries with modern irrigation technologies. To support this, the project will implement new agricultural systems, establish home gardens, and introduce wicking beds for consistent vegetable harvests.

Additionally, ARIJ will provide training on system maintenance, water management, and sustainable practices to build the families’ capacities. Ongoing technical support and performance monitoring will ensure successful outcomes, aiming for long-term benefits in self-sufficiency and food accessibility for these communities.
