The project is financed by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented in partnership with Chemonics International. The purpose of the project is to design, develop and turn over to the MOPWH a functioning road maintenance management system that will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Ministry’s Maintenance Management Program. This will result in better services provided to the Palestinian people by the application of enhanced road maintenance operations. This project focuses on directly building the capacity of 30 MOPWH staff made up of three female engineers, three male engineers, and ten members of the road maintenance department, ten surveyors and four Geographic Information System (GIS) technicians. There are also 600 ministry staff and numerous decision makers in other Palestinian ministries who will indirectly benefit from this project by using both the collected data and information provided by the system to enhance their own decision making process. The proposed project addresses a significant need of the ministry as stipulated in the government national plan and moreover complements PACE overall interventions in the ministry.
