Project Title: Improving Livelihood and Food Security in Southeastern Part of the West Bank (ILHFS)-Phase II

ILHFS project aims to assist more vulnerable families in Bethlehem and Hebron districts to overcome food insecurity through agricultural production and improving their access to productive assets, such as cisterns, treated gray-water and small green house cultivation. It has also helped in diversifying household diets with the aim to improving nutrition and support gender’s cultivation and to increase social status through better economic opportunities. The project targets 450 beneficiaries in seven villages of Bethlehem and Hebron districts. The expected outputs of the projects include the construction of 140 small green houses producing 168 tons of vegetables and herbs annually; in addition to 60 cisterns of (70 cubic meters capacity. Furthermore, 50 households are to benefit from the construction of 50 gray water treatment units where 5,400 cubic meters of the gray treated water are generated to irrigate the home gardens.
